to face our guests and were
greeted with applause and tears.
I was suddenly overwhelmed
by the realization that everyone
I loved and who loved me was
right there, in that room, at
that very momenr. As shafts of
sunlight filtered through the
stained glass windows, my heart
overflowed with gratitude and
pure joy. It was a little taste of
heaven on earth.

FORGIVE FOR GOOD
As joyous as the holiday season can
be, for some it brings reminders of
old emotional wounds and compli-
cated relationships. A heart that has
been hardened by grudges doesn’t
leave much room for joy to take hold.
Each time you feel anger welling up,
change the story of what happened
in your own mind. Make yourself the
hero instead of the victim. And then,
in your mind, say to the person, “I
forgive you.” And really mean it.
Remember—forgiveness is a gift
you give yourself, it’s not an act
condoning what happened to you.
